About Me

First things first, this is awkward.

I don’t like talking about myself on the best of days so the idea of this much content outside of a social media or a Linkedin profile has me sweating. This isn’t a multiple choice version of my personality – I am busting the chest right open.

But if I am honest with us both – my pause here is the problem.

Why are we so afraid to put ourselves out there? To build each other up whether we are up or down.

That is the joy of having community around.

So here it goes,

Coles notes

A lot has changed in our world today.

If you need support, there is a lot out there.

If you aren’t sure what you need, reach out – I can help you figure this out.

As a strategist, professional coach and life designer with a breadth of business experience, I have always been a dreamer and a long-term planner – this recipe has meant action in my personal and professional life. Overall, I have curated my experience to pursue two great passions; learning and building community.

I am here to help you design the life you want.

If that’s enough information for you, check out more about my services.

That’s not what this site is about though. It is about community.

The mission I am on

I am here to build community – to find my heart and follow it.

This community stands for expressing exactly who we are. Breaking down the walls and fences around our hearts and building something together that is worth waking up for.

We get to choose and design the life and world we want to live in.

Stuck? This site is here to offer community. With more content and ways to connect coming.

As my affinity for building big art continues to grow, I will keep working to create community in a variety of larger and more lasting ways.

The world is ready to heal – our people and our planet. Let’s not be part of the problem and leave them better than we found them.

What is stopping you? Something to consider

As how we spend our time shifts around the world through periods of isolation, I imagine more of us will wake up, create and participate. In our own ways.

More of us will share our gifts. Some will even monetize them.

If you have been thinking about taking the first step for a while, I get it – it can be really intimidating to reach out.

What has been stopping you? Especially now that the world has pressed pause…time is not the problem.

Is it fear of not finding the right person, wasting your time, or often worse yet, maybe even the fear of succeeding. All of those ring a bell for me.

There are also a lot of options out there and finding the right match is critical. Though I offer services and gifts of my own, this site is not about me.

This site is about community.

I hope you find something or someone here that you are looking for. Take the time to explore…

Details about me

Wow, you have made it this far!

Okay – here it goes. Here is a little bit more about my journey and how I may be able to help.

Before I awkwardly share more about myself…know that this is simply so you can get a sense of who I am, how I roll and where I am headed so you can decide if it is a good fit.

I get it, credentials matter.

This is not a highlight reel – there have been a TON of bumps and bruises along the way. Whether it is hindsight or a healthy dose of revisionism, looking back, I am grateful for every twist and turn.

My background: Business and aviation

I have spent fourteen years in the dynamic, fast moving and ever changing airline industry.

I have been everywhere from operations, to guest service, commercial, finance and finally the people team – close to ten roles in thirteen years. It was a ton of fun!

I learned more than how to build a business on core values or engage a changing organization – though those were huge lessons.

From running multiple functions, leading a variety of leaders, teams and global vendors (on site and remotely), to managing projects, negotiations and implementations – I learned a lot that gave me the hands on practical experience to help business owners of all sizes.

There was never an end of things to learn or problems to solve! So throughout my career in aviation, I stayed curious and intentionally crafted my experience to give me end to end exposure to the machine that is business.

I learned everything I could in each department and function. I was consistently hired to observe and improve business processes, systems, team dynamics and support the shift in the talent required to execute against our strategy.

Learning for leisure

I am a lifelong learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. When I get bored I bake, so to stop myself from eating my way through cookie cookbooks, I went to school.

I studied what it took to connect teams more effectively through a two year coaching and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) diploma. Then practiced what I learned in my day to day, working with and designing programs for individuals and teams on a sliding scale (ranging from size between ~5 people to, 50, 500, 5,000 and finally almost 15k).

Alongside the hands on experience I was gaining in business, through my time at the University of Calgary and the Australian Institute of Business, I spent several years studying how to replicate and scale what worked for any size of business, market or cultural context. Meanwhile, I watched the world externally expand and then contract with globalization and localization. Through all of this, I had a particular fascination in my research for sustainable community design, multi-generational living and our collective psychological state.

Along the way, I have had the pleasure practicing consulting for small to medium sized businesses, operating as a board member, coaching executives, friends, families and teams.

I have facilitated hundreds and maybe thousands of hours of design and leadership sessions, re-engineered processes, built business strategies, board materials, business cases, talent pipelines, and everything from small grant applications to multi-million dollar budgets.

For some people all of that might sound painful. Yet it is often what is needed to take your personal or professional plans from good to great.

Especially when starting out with a smaller business – it is not easy to hire a team. So I share this detail because this type of work and planning is fun to me and are just some of the ways that I can help you – wherever you are in your journey. No team required.

My experience in facilitating and designing workshops and course content can make what feels like a painful process to you, something a little bit more fun and enjoyable for everyone.

Fulfillment and fun

Finishing where I started… on the topic of big art!

With a full time career and while finishing school, I continued to cultivate community through the building of two intentional living community homes and a giant interactive art project (the ball pit).

For me, the bigger the craft, the better!

The ball pit was a joke we had too much fun with one June day in 2016. The following year, this 10x20ft dream became reality.

For one summer, we ran the ball pit as a business to share this giant toy and all of the joy that comes with it.

With full plates and the pursuit of other projects now, it now lives happily and semi-permanently in our basement acting as a float chamber and innovation lab. The rest of the year it moonlights at a number of art festivals, fundraisers, and charity events.

What’s next for us in the community

We are often on the go but also love being at home.

We have a strong belief that life should be respected and enjoyed. We are often busy but not as a four-letter word – I like to call our lives…bodacious by design.

On the side, we also run a rental property and rent camping experiences. Each as an intentional expression and a small way to build community.

Our real-estate journey thus far has been intentional – the experience we have gained and steps we have taken are building towards a larger dream. One that we have already made a reality but plan to continue building and evolving. Community.

Today, we live on a block in three different houses with four of our best friends.

In the future, we plan to continue to build the life we want to live and a community which is a bit closer to mother nature and technology.

In North America in particular, our generations are divided. With technology, we want to better connect and allow for all stages of life living. Because we are better together.

Wherever we land, we will leave the planet and each other better than we were found.

That is A LOT about me – and yes, it was awkward! Thanks for listening… and remember, no pressure! That is not what this site is about.

An invitation for you

It is hard to talk about ourselves and put ourselves out there. Yet, it is when we are willing to step into our hearts that we are the best versions of ourselves.

So that is what I am here to do – and why this space is for me and for YOU.

If this rings a bell and you feel drawn in to working with me – feel free to contact me. If you’d rather hang out and peruse the site, resources, and content – that’s cool too!

Either way, we are all here to LIVE…as messy and exquisite as it may be. So ask yourself how you want to spend your time and then have the courage to build your life around it, because we can’t pass go and collect $200 in this world…that I know of.

Do not let perfect be the enemy of good.
